LAKELAND, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Sue Eberle, who maintains she's a victim in the Lakeland Police Department sex scandal, has lost her job.
The announcement was made by Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack as she presented her final report on the investigation to the department's advisory commission Wednesday.
Womack says, in all, 22 officers and city employees have lost their jobs or faced discipine in this scandal. She tells the commission Eberle conducted herself in a way that was unbecoming of a city employee. Womack also says Eberle lied during the investigation.
Eberle admitted she had sex with more than a dozen officers and city employees while at work or on duty over the past decade. She insists many of those episodes were against her will, but the officers involved deny that.
Womack says she hopes this report will be the final word on the scandal and assures that it won't happen again. Meantime, there's an indication that Eberle may sue the city of Lakeland.
