Waterspouts Make an Appearance Over Bay Area Waters

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA/AP)- Weather officials say a waterspout formed over Tampa Bay but didn't appear to cause any damage.

The National Weather Service in Ruskin reports that the spout was seen by commuters around 7 p.m. Tuesday heading toward the Howard Frankland Bridge. But meteorologists say the spout wasn't moving very quickly and dissipated before it reached the bridge.

Straight line winds, apparently unrelated to the waterspouts, brought down a carport and power lines along Gandy Boulevard in unincorporated St. Petersburg.
