They Protested George Zimmerman In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A half-dozen protesters held signs reading "Justice for Trayvon" and stood in front of the new Hillsborough County Courthouse, known as the Edgecomb Building, Monday.

They voiced their anger over the aquittal of George Zimmerman, who shot and killed unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin during a scuffle in a Sanford neighborhood last year.  Zimmerman maintains he shot Martin in self-defense.

The protest was led by Ali Mohammed, head of the New Black Panthers in Tampa.

Mohammed says there will be more protests in the days to come to challenge what protesters believe was a bad verdict from a flawed legal system.

"The American judicial system just showed us how blind it is to our voices," said Mohammed.
