Tampa Police Looking For Clues In A Year-Old Double Murder Case

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Tiana Vause is about to give birth and she knows it's a joy she'll never be able to share with her mom.

"I won't have her to be there for me and I won't have her for my son," she tearfully explains to reporters at the Tampa Police Department.

Vause's mother and aunt, 54-year-old Vickie Sterling and 62-year-old Linda Helms, were murdered a year ago.  Sterling and Helms lived together.  Someone entered the house on Lotus Avenue and shot the women to death.

Detectives say they have few clues to go on.  They believe the women knew their attacker.  There were no signs of forced entry.  Helms' son Ben Kowalewski hopes believes someone knows something about this case and will come forward with information.

"I just want someone to come forward with information that will make a break in this case," said Kowalewski.

There is a $1,000 reward through CrimeStoppers being offered in this case.
