Strong storms moved through Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties yesterday evening. A mobile home was destroyed by winds in the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park in Dover. The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office says no one was injured, however several people had to crawl out the window. Tree branches and power lines were reported down throughout the county with top wind gusts recorded at 57mph.
Lightning is the suspected cause of a couple of fires. Two dozen Clearwater firefighters were called to a home on Woodside Dr. where a fire was smoldering in the attic. Firefighters cut a hole in the side of the home to stop the fire from spreading. Two people who live in the home got out safely and no injuries were reported. There are also reports of a fire started by lightning at an apartment complex in Pinellas Park near 4th Street North and 112th Avenue Northeast.
