TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Tampa police now say one man was responsible for shooting and killing a manager at the Family Dollar store on North 40th Street, and they're working to find him. At first they thought two men were involved.
They say 49 year old Horsley Shorter Junior was in his office and saw the man robbing a clerk. He rushed out to help and that's when he was shot. Shorter died at Tampa General Hospital. He had served 25 years in the Army before taking the Family Dollar job.
The gunman stole a car. It's a white Mitsubishi Mirage 4-door, Florida tag AMZN75, with a "Save the Ta-Ta's" sticker on the trunk and a Sonic air freshener on the rear view mirror.
