Proposed changes for Treasure Island causeway

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Proposed changes could make it less likely you'll get stuck by a raised bridge on the Treasure Island causeway.

“The city of Treasure Island believes that by putting it on time schedules it would make people that travel on and off with a vehicle so they could adjust their time so they wouldn’t always get caught with this bridge open,” Michael Liebrum said, of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Liebrum said right now, the drawbridge opens whenever tall boats want to pass underneath.

The public has 90 days to let the coast guard know how they feel about putting the drawbridge on a schedule.
