CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy was fired today for making inappropriate remarks to a 17-year-old rape victim, according to an internal affairs memorandum.
On two occasions in July, Deputy Paul Martin used profane terms to describe sexual acts and body parts in front of the teen and talked about going to strip clubs in front of her, the memorandum says. In talking with the girl about her case, Martin also asked her about sex acts she never mentioned in her complaint, the report states.
The deputy also made derogatory remarks about his own ex-wife to the girl, the memorandum says. He also said things such as “I own you” and “I control your destiny” — remarks not typically included in the array of techniques used by investigators questioning potential rape victims.
