TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - There may end up being a mistrial in the murder case of Richard McTear.
He's accused of killing his girlfriend's baby. But on the witness stand Monday, that girlfriend, Jasmine Bedwell, testified McTear had previously threatened to kill her child.
That was a topic she agreed not to discuss. So, trial came to an abrupt halt and jurors were sent home. They'll return Tuesday morning to be questioned by the judge, who tells attorneys he's exploring his options in this case.
McTear is accused of beating three-month-old Emmanuel Murray, then throwing the child out of his car window while he was driving along I-275 in May of 2009.
