Missing Boater Found Alive

Crystal River, Fla.(970 WFLA) - After an all night search in the waters off Citrus County, the Coast Guard says missing boater 51 year old Efstathios Moumouris has been found alive. 

Moumouris's wife called authorities last night when her husband did not return from a fishing trip out of the Citrus County Boat Ramp.

The Coast Guard found his empty boat around 4 this morning.


Coast Guard crews, along with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews are searching Thursday for a 51-year-old man near Fort Island boat ramp after he was reported overdue by his wife.

Missing is Efstathios Moumouris.

Moumouris' wife contacted partner agencies, which relayed the report to the Coast Guard after Moumouris left Wednesday in his 16-foot boat and did not return.

Search crews located his 16-foot boat nine miles west of the boat ramp at approximately 4 a.m., without Moumouris aboard.

FWC crews, a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft — Shallow Water boatcrew from Station Yankeetown, A MH-60 Jayhawk  helicopter crew and a C-130 Hercules aircraft crew from Air Station Clearwater are searching for Moumouris.
