Sarasota, Fla-(970 WFLA)-Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man for grand theft after finding a stolen tractor in his back yard. Investigators say 31 year-old James Trippe must not have known that the Case tractor was equipped with a Lojack anti theft device.
Deputies say a "ping" alert from the Lojack led them to Trippe's home on Whidden Road. Although Trippe told deputies he did not have a tractor on his property, they found the vehicle partially covered with a tarp next to an outbuilding.
The tractor, equipped with a front loader and a backhoe, was stolen from the area around Interstate 4 and U.S. 301 in Hillsborough County last month. The tractor is valued at $82,000.
