Gas Prices Up Again

Gas Prices Up Again

TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Tensions in Egypt, and higher demand in the U.S. are the reasons the price of gasoline keeps going up, according to the AAA.

The average price in Tampa reached $3.55 a gallon, while the statewide average reached $3.62 a gallon, according to The Auto Club Group, which includes Triple-A organizations in several Southeastern states.

Auto Club Group spokeswoman Jessica Brady says traders are worried about the impact of political turmoil on the Suez Canal, a chokepoint for oil shipments from the Middle East. There's also more demand for fuel in the U.S.

Brady predicts gas prices across Florida will reach $3.65 to $3.80 a gallon, but will just miss the $4 mark, assuming there are no hurricanes in the Gulf.
