FHP: Two rounds fired at car in I-275 road rage case

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – The Florida Highway Patrol said they are investigating a road rage incident that ended with one man firing two rounds at another man.

Troopers said a 19-year-old man told them the ordeal started when he was merging northbound onto I-275 from Fletcher Avenue. Troopers said the man told them he was cut off by another merging vehicle described as a gold Cadillac CTS

The man continued driving northbound on I-275 approaching Bearss Avenue according to FHP, changed lanes and accidentally cut off the Cadillac which then began to tailgate the teen.

Troopers said as both cars were next to each, the teen said the two men exchanged angry hand gestures. The teen then said the driver of the Cadillac yelled at him and then promptly fired two rounds at him with a handgun, troopers said.

After that, troopers say the two drivers separated and the teen called authorities at SR-54 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to file the complaint.

FHP said anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 800-873-TIPS or the Florida Highway Patrol by calling 813-631-4020 referencing case number FHPC14OFF001982.
