TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Dontae Morris had told his attorneys he didn't want them to present any testimony or evidence that could spare him from death row.
He didn't want to cooperate with them as they prepare for a possible penalty phase in the event he's convicted of murdering two Tampa police officers.
But Friday, Hillsborough Circuit Judge William Fuente questioned Morris about it. Morris now says he will allow doctors to evaluate him and will go through a pre-sentence investigation.
Morris is accused of killing officers Jeff Kocab and Dave Curtis in June of 2010.
His trial will take place in Tampa next month, though the jury will be selected in Orlando, as was the case in Morris' first trial for the murder of another man, Rodney Jones.
