Congressman Bill Young's Visitation and Funeral Expected To Draw Thousands

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (970 WFLA) - From House Speaker John Boehner to former Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England, Congressman Bill Young's Thursday funeral is expected to draw a host of political and military dignitaries.

The U.S. House of Representatives is recessed Thursday so members of congress can attend Young's funeral service, which will be at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks.

It's open to the public and begins at 1 p.m..  6,000 people are expected to attend.

And that also presents traffic considerations.

Traffic is expected to be extremely heavy near the church, which is on Ulmerton Road near Indian Rocks.

You're also asked to be mindful of heavy traffic near Bay Pines in St. Petersburg Thursday afternoon.  Young will be buried in a private service at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

On Wednesday, there'll be a visitation for the Young family at the Bill Young Armed Forces Reserve Center on Grand Avenue in Pinellas Park.  It runs from 5 to 8 p.m..

Traffic will be heavy along Gandy Boulevard, near the reserve center and along Park Boulevard between 113th Street and the reserve center for a motorcade.
